Survival
After Death
Survival after death
There are many beliefs
throughout the world on the subject of survival after death.
Some religions believe in life in Heaven after death of the
body while others believe that the human soul or spirit is
reincarnated upon death into a new body, reborn to begin life
anew. For centuries these beliefs have been studied in order to
determine the true aspect of survival after death. While some
religions believe that only humans can survive in the spiritual
world, there are those who believe all creatures will
experience a life after death. It is nearly impossible to
determine which belief is correct without actually experiencing
death.
Many people throughout history have claimed to have near death
experiences, in which they felt themselves being drawn toward a
light which they felt was the afterlife. Whether they were
actually experiencing the after death survival, or merely in a
state of unconscious hallucination has yet to be proven. The
fact remains however, that people experience this phenomenon
frequently and many believe that they are coming close to
seeing what is at the end of the tunnel with regards to what
happens when we die. Many people have also had deathbed
experiences of seeing Christ or another religious symbol just
seconds before they died.
Survival after death can be viewed in many ways. For the
Christian believers, it is Heaven where they will live in
mansions, walk on streets of gold and have no pain or suffering
for eternity. For Muslims, survival after death means being
reincarnated to live life in a new body with a completely new
existence. There are many who believe that they can remember
people or events from previous lives. The term déjà vu comes
into mind often when speaking of reincarnation.
Others believe that survival after death comes in the form of
ghosts. Many believe that they can communicate with the
deceased either directly or through a medium or a psychically
gifted person, who can speak to ghosts and revert back what
they say.
Whether you follow Christian, Muslim, Buddhist or other
religions, it is very evident that virtually all religions
believe in survival after death. Atheists are the only known
group who believe that once the body has died, the soul or
personality also ceases to exist. Other religions and beliefs
hold that in some form or fashion, the soul, mind or spirit
will continue to exist, either in a Heavenly realm or on
earth.
Again, determining which of these beliefs is correct would be
nearly impossible, although there have been poignant studies on
each that have shown cause for belief. Simply saying that one
belief is wrong is not necessarily correct. Many scientists and
other researches have delved into each belief of survival after
death and many points have been made to support each belief. Of
course, just as everyone in the world is different in some way,
all beliefs are different as well. They are, however, very much
alike in some aspects. Survival after death exists in each
major religion in the world, whether it be spiritual or
physical.
